They sure are ugly rifles but I picked up one yesterday where I work. We received some marked VG: for very good condition.
It's quite a rifle with that long bayonet.:D

Bill, You sure are right about them being long affairs. I have one too. Be careful what ammo you use with it though. Mine shoots 10-12 inches high with 203 grain factory loads. All the best.

It's still sitting in the "layaway" room. Gotta bail it out tis week.
It was made in 1940 will all matching numbers. And includes that big long toothpick of a bayonet, sling, ammo pouch and oiler.

The Mosin is a fine battle rifle. It sounds like you got a Model 1891 or 91/30. There are handier versions like the M38 or M44. I prefer the Finnish versions because they have a better fit and finish.

The Russian rifles can have various bore sizes where the Finnish rifles tend to have a more uniform bore diameter. I agree that the Finns made better rifles. All the best...
