HEALTHCARE SURVEY RESULTS

Survey started on 8/4/2009.

1. Since 2000, the cost for health insurance premiums for individuals and families have doubled. Additionally, Medicare will become insolvent during the next decade – which could jeopardize the health care seniors enjoy today.

Do you think Congress should act to prevent heath insurance premiums from rising at such a rapid pace and to keep Medicare solvent?

Do you think Congress should pass new guidelines to ensure every American can purchase health insurance regardless of a “preexisting condition” without extra charges based on gender?

I only voted on (4), and (5) ("no" and "yes") as I found the other questions somewhat ambiguous.

There is no doubt that we don't need a gov. run system. However something does need to be done about medicare as many will be on it soon.
IMHO the biggest problem in the healthcare system today is greed. And those responsible will be the last to admit to it. And they know who they are. When greed is taken out of the equation of human suffering then maybe something will be done.
I have never thought it moral or ethical to get rich off of someone else's misfortune.

The ones getting rich are the Trial Lawyers and the Insurance Companies out there that charge $200,000.00 a year for Professional Liability coverage.

They are only one part of the equation; and as long as we have tunnel vision we will never get this right. Another one is salaries of hospital administrators, what hospitals charge for stuff you and I can buy at Walgreens, etc. There are lots of places to look.
How about the doctors? They aren't sacred either. They complain about insurance premiums all the time yet around here I don't see their kids going to community colleges, or their family in a fixer-upper, or driving clunkers. Drastically cut insurance premiums and do you really think the fees will drastically go down? They are affected by human nature just like everyone else. I don't put them on a pedestal either.

Those prices charged by Hospitals are SET BY THE GOVERNMENT so that the Hospitals can "Cover Costs." HMO's are being demonized by Ted Kennedy and the Democrats, yet it was that very same TED KENNEDY that wrote the legislation that set up Health Maintenance Organizations. The real savings are to be found eliminating the Government from the Health Care Equation, not by putting the Government in CHARGE.

Rule of thumb:

Keep the government's fingers out of our lives and we won't find ourselves under their thumb!

They can enact legislation to insure a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

Outside of that they need to put themselves out of business and start doing something productive for a CHANGE!, like get some real jobs!

Princess Pelosi squanders a heart transplant every week she is in office. WTF, how do they expect anyone to take them seriously?

This survey is obviously false or I would have seen it on major news networks. Right? I understand they are even turnig down advertising $$$ to inform the public about the truth of O/B care. Sounds like Pravda to me.

I'm no expert on this subject but it seems like something should be done to insure noone has to go without basic health care in this country. More and more people are finding themselves without coverage in this area all the time as more and more factory jobs are lost and being replaced by "service industry" jobs. You won't make enough at these service jobs {stores, restaurants, etc.} to afford coverage of your own and few provide coverage as part of their compensation package. All three of my kids are now working full time jobs with no insurance coverage provided and don't make enough to afford their own. I myself have had no health insurance since the early 90's yet I've never been unemployed for more than a few weeks in all those years. Screw medicare. you've got to live long enough to get it first and doing that is going to be tough if you have to go without health care for most of your life until retirement age.

Keep in mind that straight "Medicare" is crap by itself. Everyone I know purchases one of a variety of "Medicap" plans to insure against most contingencies not covered by gov't medicare plan.
