Went shopping yesterday and this morning for my fall hunting supplies, 3 stores. First store had one (yes 1) box of rifle ammo, next 2 stores had zero boxes of rifle ammo. WOW:eek:. Of course the 1 box was not my caliber. I guess I'm reloading for this fall's hunts. Greybeard/

I am seeing plenty of .30-06, .270, .308, .243 and .30-30 plus a fair supply in a variety of others though 7.62x39 and .223 maybe hard to find at times.

I was in Sportsman's Warehouse today and they were short on rifle and handgun ammo. Was in Cabella's yesterday and they were a little short on handgun ammo but in good shape for rifle.

Good luck if you have more exotic tastes than 270, 30-06, 308, 30-30, 243, etc.

In the few gun shops I've been in lately rifle ammo is available but
handgun ammo as well as reloading supplies are a hit or miss deal.
If you happen to be there the day some supplies come in then it's a hit.
If not then it's anybodies guess as to when the next shipment will arive.
Most of the shops tell me they haven't seem some reloading supplies
in months. I know I can't find any IMR 4350 anywhere.
I'm glad I have enough supplies to get me through this hunting season.
I wasn't smart enough to stock up, hoard, stuff before the election.:)

My little supplier I have been using for years keeps me in reloading stuff-I do NOT rely on big box stores who care not about me--as for exoctics not being around-i was in three stores today and there was plenty of them but little in the way of 308-06- etc.

Some of the Walmart stores here are finally beginning to have a decent supply of rifle ammo at the end of the week, sell out over the weekend. The cost of the ammo is close to the old prices but the big outdoor stores are charging what appears to be an 80% markup above normal.

At Cabela's gun counter you still need to take a number to get waited on during the weekends and in the evening. People here are still buying a lot of new guns.

Gentlemen I was at the store yesterday, (thanks to the wife for taking the time to drive me over there) I spoke to the owner and there is a shortage of those WSM calibers but not in the .270WSM.

Lots of 30-06, .270 Win, 7mm mag, not much in the .338 mag calibers though. Also none of those big brusers like the .338 Ultra or .300Ultra either. You can forgetabout the .416 Rigby or Remington etc.

Plenty of 30-30, 257 Roberts and 25/06, 35 Remington, 350 mag. Lots of varmint calibers. 17 cal, .204, 222-Rem, 223, .243.

A good supply of handgun ammo in 9mm Luger, .40 cal, 44mag, 45acp but only a box or two of the .380-auto.

He told me they are supposed to get a couple shipments of ammo in this week or next. I am sure that will help a bunch since elk season is close

boxes of traditional rifle calibers now showing up but not in high supply. And wow, prices are high.

Greybeard, yes the price on the box of ammo is a far cry from the first box of 30-06 ammo I purchased back in 1959 for $5.85. I saw some 30-06 in 150 grain for a sale price of $16.50 a box (limit one per customer) same goes for the .270 Winchester caliber at $16.00 a box in the 130 grn bullet.
