These guys get really big in Thailand and fight like hell. There have been much larger barramundi caght in my secret hidey holes, but sadly, I've not managed to catch the largest of what is here for the taking. A friend of mine landed a huge gal last month and I'll post the pic as soon as I can. They are extremely fun to catch and good eatin' too!

Interesting. Do a lot of people fish over there and is it regulated like here?
That jungle perch looks a lot like what we call roaches, an invasive fish sometimes caught in ponds.

The locals will fish for food in some areas, but that really doesn't amount to much in most areas. Sport fishing is still nearly unheard of in all but the very 'touristy' of locales (e.g. Phuket). Yes, there are regulations but many are very loose and certainly no over-regulating. The saltwater fishing is more heavily regulated, with common worldwide restrictions/ limits in place.
