Jeff Murray, and his theory of deer movement when the moon is straight up and straight down is right on. Here the moon is straight up @ 6:17 pm Central time tonight. I just shined the spotlight a couple minutes ago. The momma/ yearling are still out there. Been since about 7p.
Since Saturday past, we've been seeing a couple spikes and a doe in the front yard eating the persimmons. I checked the Naval Observatory every time. The moon is way up overhead every time.
back in the 90's, when Jeff came out with the Moon Dial, I was in a lease that kept records of kills. I recorded all kills that were NOT in the dogs allowed season. I talked with my fellow members to eliminate those kills where forced movement may have played a factor. I did this for 2 years.
Conclusion, Jeff is right on that deer move when the moon is straight up, and, though a smaller movement, again when it is straight down.
