Years ago Dan Lilja wrote articles about his LR elk hunting in Precision Shooting magazine. I always figure if I'm going hunting I'd like a rifle that I can carry and I try to understand having a rifle that can only be shot off a bench to take elk with as another way to hunt.

Now if anyone wants to see real LOOOOOONG RANGE SHOOTING, just go to the U Tube web sight and click on the .416 Barret video, that they are now using to make ONE SHOT HITS out to the distance of 2,500 yards. This is a mile and a half folks. I never thought I would see the day but it is here to stay.

Its a nice video HiBall, but Ive heard the 416 barret is having logistic issues. And the 408 cheytec and i believe even the 338 lupua are getting there with load development.
Howdy.

Howdy I still have a hard time fathoming the fact that today, those "snipers" can hit a target at 1.5 miles down range with a rifle. I remember being in Uncle Sams service and if you could hit targets at 400 & 500 yards, you were some shooter. Now those who went on to sniper school and graduated, could certainly take out targets at 800 yards back in the 1960's. :)
