I take my Schatz to the airport Friday and ship her off to Germany for two weeks. There she will visit her parents and my oldest son stationed at Spangdahlem AFB.

What that means is that my 15 year old boy and I will not have anyone telling us we eat too much processed meats, he should not be eating white bread, things are not low fat, etc!!! :D

Any bets on what the scales say when she returns?:)

I put her on the plane at 2:00 yesterday. True to my promise first thing we did was drive about 20 miles last night to a small town steak/BBQ house we enjoy and she detests.:D There we split a big 32 oz medium rare sirloin steak with fresh cut, skin one greasy fries.

After a breakfast of eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits we ate hearty tonight with chicken cordon bleu, seasoned oven roasted potatoes and a steamed carrot/cauliflower/brocolli blend I buttered. I washed that down with a new Bavarian wheat beer (NA) enhanced with the traditional lemon slice. Life is good.:)

Sounds like you're gonna make it alright. I had fried catfish and homefries for supper tonight. It was a ten pounder and I tried to eat it all but I just couldn't do it.

There is some degree of loneliness that Husbands and sons experience when mama is away for a length of time.

Thank goodness there's wood coals to burn meat on and grease to fry fish and backstrap in or the poor fellers would just starve. I am amazed that my boys and I were even alive when she'd get home because there was no one there to tell us when to go to bed, when to get up, when to wash the dishes or the toilet (in that order). She would usually have to make a huge run to the grocery store when she got home though.

Hey Paul, get your feet off the coffee table, pick up your socks, don't you do anything around the house?????????? Just keeping you on your toes ................

:DWell my experience says that the first week apart is a pleasure for both.:D

By the end of the second week they are ready to see each other again. :)

Lets see. Eggs, bacon, biscuits and left over roasted potatoes will make a fine breakfast I think. :D

At some point you may want to throw some fiber (http://www.break.com/tv-shows/saturday-night-live/colon-blow-626180.html) into the mix.

I'll let you lead the way. For the moment I will stick to fruit, dried fruit, beans and such.:D

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. The fruit, that is, not having me lead the way.:D

Paul, you're gonna be eating oatmeal 3 meals a day for the next year just to get your cholesterol numbers back to something under heart-attack heaven. :D

Well I pick her up Saturday. We have eaten well with Cordon Bleu, venison backstrap, Alfredo and shrimp, spaghetti and meatballs, fried fish and french fries, pork chops, round venison/vegetable soups, one Breakfast for dinner (eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits), oven baked potato wedges and much more.

Truth is though that if it was fried the oil was olive, every meal included frozen vegetables or vegetable blends and whole grain breads. Though she has a fixation against fried foods I know that monosaturates (olive and canola oil) are actually beneficial in and of themselves. The one egg/bacon dinner is not wonderful, but within moderation. We ate welland healthy despte the banter and other than a 2 lbs gain on my part we are doing great.:D

Man I try to keep my physique to a point where 2# won't even be noticeable, either way. I fixin to go lose 2# right now after my first two cups of coffee!

Alan, that's impressive, but, if you're interested, there are ways to increase the yield (http://www.break.com/tv-shows/saturday-night-live/colon-blow-626180.html).

There was a cereal I used to get made by U.S. Mills, "Uncle Sam's". It had bran flakes and flax seed. It was very effective and downright dangerous if used improperly!
