My wife found some Italian plums and baked German plum cake today.

For those who have not had it the cake itself is fairly simply in that it is most like a thick, slighty sweet pie crust that is only slightly light in texture. On top the plums halfs are laid across it with a bit of spice. It is baked and any juice that cooks out thickens to a kind of thick gel. After cooling a bit slice and sprinkle with just a bit of sugar or top with whipped cream and enjoy.
