There is sure not much out there for rope ladders for deer hunters that I have found. WI. is pretty anal about not damaging a tree with screw in steps and everything like a stand needs to be down on the ground by the end of the day on public property. Since the majority of people fall either ascending or descending a tree stand, why wouldn't a rope ladder be a good alternative instead of relying on branches that may or may not hold your weight?

There's a reason rope ladders aren't popular. :D

I thought that might be the case just watching Army guys struggle to get up a cargo net on the side of a ship. And you know that a cargo net is secured a lot better than a rope ladder ever would be.

One job I had we had to use one to decend 4 floors of an office building in a pipe chase.
It was a super PITA
Last one I want to be on !!
I'm thinkin' that rope ladders are why climbing tree stands were invented! :D
The trouble with 'em is that you're dealing with a never-ending overhang. You can get around that a bit if it's tight to the tree, but then you can't get your toes onto the steps.
A better way to use a rope to get into a tree is with a climbing harness and a pair of ascenders (or prusik knots, if you're a cheapskate). But it's only a better way; it's still not a good way ;)

You can always get a set of these - Lone Wolf Climbing sticks.
They are not as fast as a climbing tree stand, but they can be left up. :D
