#1 son told me yesterday that it opens Saturday Sept. 12. I haven't even rattled a decoy bag. It'll sure be a busy week!

I look forward to your report.

I've got to buy some steel skeet loads for quail as there is spot on the reservation where ducks and quail are in the same area. You can hunt quail with lead but if you are hunting ducks, too, you have to have all steel. It doesn't make sense, but da law is da law.

At what point does the high price of purchased duck load shotgun shells override the need to shoot at a little duck like a teal? Or does it even enter into the equation? I am remembering back to my duck hunting days when I said to myself that I wasn't going to pay over $4.00 a box for four dram equivalent lead duck loads. Those were the days! Now I'm paying 2x that for trap loads.

Never did go. Not even opening of regular duck season.

Ammo is still the cheapest part of the hunt.

It looks like my east coast hunt will be the only one of the year. Young Hippie just got a case of fast steel for 13 bucks a box - which will be what I'll be shooting. I prefer Hevi-Steel but don't know they have it on the right coast.

Sorry you didn't get out, Alan - doesn't your season go into January?

I think the 25th or thereabouts is the last weekend. I may get to go out this next weekend. I could have gone today but I was just too tired. I enjoyed sleeping in and playing with #1 Granddaughter till after noon. I may get sick and go sometime during the week too.
