Bill, I printed your knot drawing from the other thread and I've been tying it for practice. I have not run it against a polymar for breaking strength yet and I do like the double line over the hook eye of the polymar, but your knot sure does not slip in mono. I think that it is going to be the perfect knot that I have been looking for for stingers. Being that I get to drive the boat most of the time, I don't take the time to finesse a walleye up onto the hook like my partner does. When the fish are biting short I've caught a lot of extra fish on a red #8 treble stinger hook. What I really like about your knot is that it draws down tight and does not slip, but by pulling the tag end it opens the loop in the knot so that it will slip on or off over the main hook for a stinger as needed. Clench knots slip and do not loosen. Thank you for the knot tying lesson.

You’re welcome. Oh, wait, you were thanking Bill.
Well I would have provided it to you if I had (1) known it and (2) had taken the time to post it. But that’s knot my situation. In fact, come to think of it, I’m on the same side of the equation that you’re on. So me too; thanks, Bill.

Where is that tongue in cheek icon when we need it? Or I could try to lasso the fish with about as much likelihood of tying that knot. Being a little ham fisted, I'm doing good when I get my shoes tied.:D

Yeah, I liked the last knot better. Anyone who can tie that new knot ought to automatically be qualified as a bosun's mate in the Navy. And the old Navy at that, the one where they hoisted sails and keelhauled each other. Say, maybe that's what that knot is for: keelhauling. It's got so many loops in it that it could probably withstand being drug stem to stern below the ship and survive all the abrasive barnacles.
Greywolf, what's a gofer knot? One where you have to go fer more line?

Bill, I've got 15 #8 red treble stingers tied up with that slip knot of yours to go over the single jig hook. While I have all of them tied with four loops like in your picture, just for grins I tried three, then two and even one loop AND NONE OF THEM SLIP!!! That is a great knot and thanks again for posting it. I used 10# XL with a double over the hook eye clench knot for the treble end. I lost a lot of walleyes these last few years because the single clench knot to the jig pulled through. Those fish are in trouble now. The hook bends before the knot will slip.
