Anyone? I'm going out with my 45/70 to scout the area I'll be deer hunting in a few weeks. Odds are against me as NYS does not allow baiting or dogs. Most bears are shot incidental to deer hunting and many of those are by groups that drive the deer. About the only technique you can use is "Scenting" and even that is legally iffy and it is not clear to me where NYS draws the line between "Baiting" & "Scenting". I remember when old fashion dumps were surrounded by stand hunters but that was not called "Baiting". Now the landfills & transfer stations have eliminated that option.
