No. Go as soon as it breaks. However if you have any scouting or stand work to do, that is definitely the time.

It's like now or never and it might not start raining here until dark.

no lightweight raingear... maybe I can find that treestand umbrella thingy and a big plastic bag. :D

I'm sitting here debating the very same thing!!! I think I'm gonna get out there for a few hours. I don't mind getting wet - it's the tracking in the rain that I hate.

I hate hunting in the rain. Give me snow any time.:)

Well - I dodged every drop, and it turned out to be a nice afternoon for being in the woods. I drew back twice on a doe but the angle never was right so I let her go without pulling the trigger - but I'm glad I went. But I'm with ya on that snow versus rain thing!

The rain held off until just after dark so I had a good hunt but I didn't see a deer. :o

I went out with this kid who was in my wifes class last year. It rained so we got down and went to get something to eat and waited but it rained harder.

The forcast was heavy rain so I stayed out of the woods Saturday and cut up the big doe I shot Friday Night and one from last week Thats six deer I've butchered in 10 days and it's getting old very fast.

But, at least the walk-in is empty again. Whew.

I was kicking myself for not hunting Saturday morning. Rained most of the night and cleared off right around daybreak to clear crisp skies.:( I know the deer were moving. Also the moon pattern should have made for great hunting in the evenings all last week.

Went to visit my folks in St Louis over the weekend, and haven't hunted this season yet. I'm going to have to pop for a vacation day pretty soon or sit back and watch the season tick away on me.

I learned a good bit walkin around Sunday afternoon.

The rain stopped that morning about 9 and I saw quite a few fresh tracks, course I walked about 5 miles all told. :D

Can't hunt Sundays in NC.
I thought you told us otherwise.

I thought you told us otherwise.

doan think so.

There is/was a proposal to make some Sunday hunting legal but it has been delayed a year. I have mixed feelings about it (Sunday hunting).

As I remember it you told us a proposal had passed to allow bowhunting on Sundays and that the opponents were motivated by jealousy of bowhunters.

The proposal did pass but was put on hold for one year due to the ten letter law.

If ten or more letters of opposition are received, apparantly there is a rule to hold the change of law back one year.

Well then it seems to me that it did indeed pass, which is consistent with what you told us. I don't remember the "delayed a year" part so I assume that that's new information. But, in any event, it seems like a mere technicality at this point. Bowhunters get yet another chunk of the season all to themselves.

Great news huh? :D

Actually they are legalizing it only on private property.

I like that because I like to walk gamelands on Sundays and like being the only one in the woods. :)
