No game this week so #1 son and I went out to a place he was invited to hunt on. I was invited too, but I rarely accept. Friday I did. The birds weren't flying as well as they had in the past but good enough for an old guy who had to leave his huntin dog at the house. He's in the middle of getting a heart worm treatment and is not allowed strenuous activity. I killed four and held to my 5 shot per bird stats. I was using my 12 ga Ithaca double with 26" barrels, Really a quail gun and I shoulda took the 870 since the shots were a little long. #1 son bbq'd some this afternoon and brought me a couple. He put a slice of jalapeno and a slice of onion inside two halve of the dove breast and wrapped the whole thing in bacon and toothpicked it together. They were fantastic.
It was the first time I had been dove hunting in several years and was even more fun with my oldest son. I need to get out and walk more, I was worn out after just a little while of jump shooting out of dove weed.
