I went to the local yard sales, again, today and found an Excellent Swede 6.5x55MM M1938 Rifle. After the expected "haggle", the Swede now has a nice home with me.

I will test fire this rifle tomorrow after our 5-7-inch snow fall tapers off. The 6.5x55 is one of my favorite calibers and everyone ought to own at least one.

How much did you have to give for it? Take care...

Congratulations on a great find that makes you happy. :)

I seldom hit garage sales, but it has been years since I have seen a firearm for sale at one. I wonder how many you hit before you find a gun for sale.

Altjaeger,

I hit many yard sales before I find stuff I want. It seems the old guys are passing on and military arms were very popular here in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Joe Boleo,

I gave $75 for the gun. You always ask what I pay for stuff. Why? Are you trying to be my accountant? LOL.

He's working for your wife, better watch what you admit to :D :p

I've shot 2 bucks in Pennsylvania (Just west of Eldred) with a sporterized Mod-94 6.5X55 I bought about in 1964 for $65.00. I love that Caliber.
That was a good price you paid!

Maybe he wants to see if you want to double your money.

:D

You'd be way better off to "double it" by taking out the money you have in your wallet, folding it in half & putting it back in your wallet and KEEPING the gun :p

Works that way with a lot of other "Investments" too.....

I bought a winchester semi auto 20 ga at a yard sale years ago, It looked new and unused EXCEPT, for a very obvious, very well rusted set of finger prints, on the barrel,I got it for a decent price, and sanded down the finger prints and re-blued the barrel with less than ideal results, but the guns price was low enough that I was not overly concerned, and its killed several buckets of doves over the years

I'm of the same opinion. I have 3 - M96's and a Rem 700 Classic in 6.5 x 55 . . . Don't have an M38 . . . yet. Great caliber, especially if you reload.
