Nice Doe,
I think that's exactly how them Mafia guys tie you up just before they throw you in your trunk. :(

Nice doe NC. Glad to see I'm not the only on still shooting a Knight.
How many deer are you allowed a season down there?
Is your ml season between bow and rifle?
Our ml season is in Dec. after bow and rifle. Some years we have so much snow by Dec. we can hardly get in the woods. Some hunters are trying to get the
F&W to give us a short season between bow and rifle.

Nice going Bowman!
Early smoke pole season starts here on Thursday and I'm having a hard time getting psyched for it. I may walk out to the beauty spot one afternoon with the White 45.

The T Bolt is one of my all time favorites. I'll never turn it loose. I'm only sad that I sold my reserve one a few years back:o

I've got a black knight I might like a little more but somehow wound up with this one scoped and ready to go this year. They're both fine shootin guns. :)
Our season last thru Dec so maybe I'll get another go or two if I can get time to hunt some.
Where was the hit? Seems like a long tracking job.....
Nice work bringing her in :D

the first pic shows the hit just behind the shoulder. She was quartering to me, looking and just beginning to bolt. The hit, a couple inches high, tells me she was in motion when the slug got there. She surely already had the adrenaline up.
It's been a season of runners for me so far. Every deer I've killed has run well above average distances. Just the way strings run sometimes.

Runners...
I've had a mixed bag, but 4 of the 5 deer I've shot with a muzzleloader this year have dropped right on the spot. One ran for maybe 100yds with a broken back leg.
I've got a much shorter data set, but have only seen one runner with the .54, and that was one that I hit a bit farther back than I had meant to and got into liver. She only went maybe 35-40 yards, though. That was OK, though, because I was shooting from prone, so I had picked a spot in the middle of a tree trunk and squeezed when she stepped in front of it. After exiting, the ball smacked square into the tree and removed a quarter-sized patch of bark, but bounced too far for me to ever find it.....
JMO, for the shot you described, I would have put that big ol' bullet right on the point of her shoulder or maybe an inch or so inside o' that... but it sounds like you didn't have a whole lot of time to work with
