I don't know the hunter but it's an outstanding buck for Washington Co.

That is not one of my friends. I have not heard from them either.

I think the hunter is from Va.

Best I can gather, I think the buck was killed on or around Pungo. Washington Co is known for mature scrub bucks. The above buck is the biggest I've ever seen come from down there.

JMO - that's an exceptional deer for anywhere on public land, and for most places where it's a patchwork of public & private.

I've never taken one to a taxidermist before, but I think that'd be the exception, especially if I could get one like that with bow or roundball.

Any idea what a deer like that would gross? I'm not that interested in the books, but it is kinda nice to have some frame of reference when people start talking that way ;)

And it's hard to guess when the guy doesn't even hold the animal WAAAY out front to a wide, wide, wide angle lens to distort the size of it :D

GF, I've got a carbon copy of that rack and it scores about 125 gross. An 8 takes a huge set of antlers to make the B&C book, but a lot of 8's will qualify for P&Y. I always figure that the ears are 16" tip to tip and that buck looks about ear wide. My 125 is 16" outside with the same kind of mass and height.
