:)
The boys and I have lifetime sportsman's licenses here in NC. Every year the state sends us a bear tag each along with our other tags.
best money I ever spent. ;)
btw, I've seen the bear I want and this track ain't his. :D

Been scouting a little up at the farm and bear sign abounds. It seems we are up to our eyes in bear (again). past year or so its been down, and I actually went the whole season without seeing one. I doubt thats the case thisyear.
And Mtn Lion sightings are way up too... NOt sure how i feel about this, seeing that there isnt a season for either and my gun only goes bang once!

Actually that's a loaded question as you know I've been out of state every Nov for the past 11years. This year the economy has me staying home though ...
... and btw, I bear hunted this afternoon WITH the bow IN pouring rain and gale winds.
I shoulda stayed on the ground though. Hard to draw a bow holdin onto the tree to keep from getting blown out of the stand. :D

Yes... loaded indeed. I just was thinking that hunting the bear you know is there might be more productive than finding another one. :D I entered the bear lottery this year in Maryland but didn't get drawn. I'm getting more of a hankerin' to get one.
I went out this morning in the cold windy rain, but tried a hunt from the ground. I hear you on hunting from trees that are swinging around so much that have have to hold on. Not very easy to hunt that way. Makes you really consider how well your safety system might work.
Yesterday a gentleman called me up about deer getting inside his 8-foot fence and ravaging his plants. I went over there at 7:15 this morning, and did find a deer inside the fence, but the deer pulled a Houdini on me while I was stalking around a pine tree and just plumb disappeared. I have no idea how that deer got out of that corner... but it did. I've got a tree picked out for Friday morning if the weather is better than today.

Hey Crockett,
Spoke to a guy last week about Bear in NJ. He said they darted a LARGE bear in a dumpster by Upper Greenwood Lake about two weeks ago. Hear this, the bears weight was 750 lbs. Now that you have a new govenor, maybe you will have a season next year:).
