What do you like or dislike about the Berretta 92F(s).

I've had one for 20 years, it finally broke the trigger spring this year so I replaced it with a new style one and also installed a light "D" spring for the hammer. That really helped with the stiff double action first shot issue the gun had from the factory. Mine has been utterly reliable, at one point I decided to see how long it could go without cleaning, at over 5K I felt guilty and cleaned it. I didn't even have an ammo failure like bad primer, that really surprised me. It also is not fussy about what kind of ammo you feed it. It's a little large for daily carry, atleast for me but it was my first choice for SD when I had my business. From light lead loads to hotter hardball, it's very accurate and a favorite can skipper or steel ringer for me.

My only negative is the double action, it takes some getting used to and lots of practice. The new springs really help.

What say you??

Doug S,

I carried a 92D for five years as a federal agent before I retired and I liked the gun. Load it right and there are few problems.

other than the way it feels in my hand, and the 9mm caliber most are chambered in I can,t think of any thing really wrong,Ive owned BOTH the TAURUS and BERRETTA versions.
I prefer some of the OTHER S&W TAURUS and GLOCK pistols, as they feel and point better in my hands, but hey, I like slinky brunettes And red head gals with long legs and impressive measurements more than blonds, with equivalent looks so its a free country so far, If you like the design ENJOY:D
we all have our particular likes & dislikes, as an example I hate the looks and feel of the RUGER super redhawks, but that certainly doesn,t mean they are not a nice revolver,I really like the DAN WESSON SUPER MAG REVOLVERS , but obviously Im not in the majority
in that TYPE of gun I feel this is FAR superior, but it costs more also

Doug S, I can't pick on the pistol at all really! I have never owned one and I remember years back many of my friends from Fort Benning days purchased the same brand name 9mm pistol. However, I passed and brought home my first COLT PYTHON and I never regretted it one iota.;) :D :D

It's funny that you should mention the Beretta Model 92-F. I have always felt this pistol was way too big for a 15 shot 9MM. Then, last week, Melanie was going out to do some shopping and I asked her to stop by Cabela's and pick me up a couple of Allen Assault Rifle Cases for my 2 new Yugo underfolders I got the day before. She came back with 2 nice cases, and a new Beretta 92-F!

I asked her what prompted her and she said, "They were on sale and we needed another 9 MM, and it felt really good in my hand." I'm not one to argue. The gun was well priced and came with an extra magazine. After extensively handling it, I'm starting to like it. It feels a lot like our Glock 21, and we both have large hands. The gun field strips easily, and shows excellent workmanship. I really like the 3 dot sights that come standard. The slide and barrel have rich, deep blue finish. Anyway we've got another gun to take to the range. About all I see adding to it would be a nice set of Hogue exotic wood grips. Bill T.
