Are we supposed to guess what these belong to, or are you just showing off your photographic skills? They look really weird the way they are opposite each other.

When you guys guess right or get tired, I'll reveal the answer.

... or you can ask any country boy from North Carolina and he might tell ya. :D

Turtles aren't a big item here. I've never seen a wild one. Painted turtles are the only species in Idaho and they aren't common. I think they're mostly in the north end of the state and I'm in the south end.

LOL....Funny how this topic came up.
I was out at my cabin Sunday, and I ran into
the guy that owns another cabin on the next tract of land.
He says 'would I like a turtle', he found one crawling
on the road by his place. I said that I would take a look
at it. So, we walkwd over to his place, and he had it
in a big trash can. I looked in, and about s*it my pants.
There was a huge snapper in the trash can. I said sure,
I'll take him. After I got it's head off, I put him on a scale,
sucker weighed out right at 24lbs. I spent about the next hour
and a half turning him into meat ( I was a little rusty on how
to clean them...been a long time since the last one). But, I 'gots
good eats' now. Wierd tho, that it was out and about, should have been buried in the mud. Guess the warm temps woke it up.

A lot of Snappers (HUGE ones in the Niagara River), and painted turtles around here.

It was just a lucky guess. I couldn't think of anything else with such a wide track like that :)

ask any country boy from North Carolina and he might tell ya.

I'm sure my nephews down in S.C. could tell "What Kind" of turtle made them tracks, and how much it weighed :p :p

Our turtles are Red Ears, Leatherbacks, and a few Snappers. The only ones I've ever seen out of the water are the Red Ears. They'll leave a slide mark or a tail mark. Our tortoises are Gophers and they don't know what mud is but they'll leave a tail mark in sand. Y'all got some long legged turtles in NC.

well somebody's thinkin ... :D

I squatted down before I took the pic and lit up a smoke ... pondering what I was lookin at. I know turtles leave drag and tail marks in mud.

Then I looked at the condition/age of the tracks ... and the water level.

The turtle was in standing water when the tracks were made. The water had receded since he was there. ;)

Then I thought about you guys. :D
