I see this stuff around and have never tried it, or Amp or Red Bull. I'm sure that it is full of caffeine or sugar or something like that. It reminds me of using a drug, but then I drink coffee and Mountain Dew and get a jolt out of those. Hunting can be kind of a strenuous sport, but I don't want to dope myself up to raise my blood pressure to risk a coronary event or have a stroke. What's the verdict on these pep up drinks?

For a while I was drinking "Full Throttle". I got to where I was drinking 4 a day and just like anything else along those lines they become less and less effective. I cut them out and went back to my two cups of coffee in the mornings and no more caffeine for the day. If I'm hunting and get sleepy I count it as a blessing and I take a nap. Taking naps is one of the reasons I hunt these days!

I'm a cola-holic, no kidding. I drink a lot of em.
Most days I drink a pot of coffee too, sometimes two.
I tried a Red Bull up in Md a couple years ago but that bug didn't bite me.

If you would do your research (http://www.5hourenergy.com/compare.asp) instead of assuming, you will find it has NO sugar and only the equivalent amount of caffeine as one cup of coffee.
No, I don`t use any of them but I have a friend who swears by it.

That is what intrigued me about the 5 Hour Energy as opposed to the 12 ounce Monster, Amp or smaller Red Bull kinds of drinks. There is hardly anything there in those little 5 Hour Energy bottles. It says that it has only natural stuff like banana and as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. I eat bananas and drink coffee now anyway. I just wondered if lots of people have tried it. I know that coffee has a declining effect as your body gets used to drinking more of it. Early on I never touched the stuff, then I'd have a 5 ounce Dixie cup with a customer and I'd light right up. Pretty soon I didn't even need the customer. Now I'm up to a pot a day just to stay level. Don't let anyone tell you that caffeine isn't a drug. Sis is an MD and says try as they might, they have not found that coffee is particularly bad for you other than it raises your blood pressure a little.

I could never figure out how the energy drink "Red Bull" is allowed to use that name without infringing on Schlitz's "Red Bull" trade name. when someone mentions Red Bull to me, I'm thinking beer.

Bushman if I drank that crap, I would no doubt be in a comma in 2 hrs or less. It is the same as taking 1/2 cup sugar and mixing it with a 10 oz cup of very strong coffee, a sugar caffiene high you betcha. There may even be a couple of extra's in those drinks to speed your heart rate up around 40 points or so.;):)

Yeah, it's hard to think that there is some magic elixir the they just invented after all these years that wouldn't be sugar and caffeine and still be permitted over the counter without a doctor's prescription with an RX label. That 5 Hour Energy comes in such a little bottle compared to the larger canned drinks, I just wondering if it was something totally different. I've yet to try any of them.

I never try this 5 hour energy. But i often hear it does work and give you energy for some time not
exactly for the 5 hours. I think I shall have to try to check the energy level of this drink.

I have still yet to try any of that stuff as I'm saving it for my old age. So far pacing myself has worked as well as anything. I asked my son-in-law about it and he said that he has tried the 5 hours stuff, but that he likes something similar called 6 Hour better.

My dad tried some, and said it should be called 20hr energy. He was a Mt Dew drinker for years and years, and says whatever is in the 5 hour energy was a lot more than what he was looking for.
I just stick with coffee in the morning, water or tea after that.
