I'm now 3-for-3 on squirrels. I'm afraid to try to shoot another one!
Gonna be some pie in my future. :D

Good shooting...

You should change your signature to "The Squirrel you DO turn around for is Meat In The Pot" :p

Funny Bill!

You make great jerky Dave. That might just be a trade!
I want to make some small single-serving pies.

Squill season is through the end of Feb - plenty of time to whack some more!

After I shot the first one on Saturday morning the one standing beside it (pictured) stood up to attention motionless, and stared at the first one. I really like shooting at a standing squirrel because it makes range-estimating less critical. Bad luck for him.

I turned the 9 point total jerky, about about 2/3rd left.

The first was at 20 yards.
That second one was at 23 yards. I put the 20 yard pin on his head and the arrow dropped into his vitals.

I'm afraid to try head shots on squirrels anymore because I invariably miss high.

Good shootin Walt. :)

I haven't shot at a squirrel yet this year but I did kill a B&C raccoon Sat morning. :)

seems like when I take the gun, squirrels wrap me up and when I take the bow, they know. :D

That's funny Bowman.
I've had the same thing happen to me though.

I've often wanted to pop the head off a squirrel with the muzzleloader, but have never tried it.

A post from the stand...

I drilled a big old doe about half an hour ago and I'm hanging out still waiting for a buck to come by.

In the mean time I just popped another big squirrel. That's 4 for 4 bayyyybeeeee! Man, are the other squirrels pissed off! :-) They've been barking for 15 minutes.

What are you doing with the dead squirrels?

I'm wanting some of those reds in Ohio almost as much as a deer.

My home is kinda like a taxidermy museum but I don't have any big reds.

I'm skinning and gutting them, and into the freezer they go.
When there are enough, they will go into the crock pot to be made into squirrel pie.

I agree about those big reds in Ohio, Bowman. They are beautiful squirrels.
The taxidermist wanted $200 to mount that one you skinned for me, so it's still in the freezer. Probably freezer burned by now. :-(

Man.... I want to go back to Ohio and spend two weeks there, and maybe go back to the ridge above the camp for another red fox squirrel.
