I have a buddy in SD that gave me a rifle to, 'shoot, treat as your own.' It's pieced together by a guy up in SD that hand makes rifles, (buddy told me his name but I forgot) and it's a real beauty. It's chambered in 19 Calhoun, built on a really slick Reminton 600 action, a barrel he apparently fashioned himself and it sits in about the prettiest piece of wood I've ever seen. I'm almost afraid to take it out of the case! Has anyone got an idea of how this caliber might do to the occasional coyote or bobcat or skunk? Willl try to post on Reloading forum for suggestions for loads, bullets selection and availability. I have about 50 rounds of loaded ammo, 25.0 BLC-2 and the bullets that came with it appear to be solid steel.

A check with the receipt of the gun showed that the gun was made by Noel Prechel.

Odd, the ammunition that came with it is obviously the 19-223 but the stamp on the barrel is 19 Calhoun

I wonder how big a job it would be to re-chamber the Calhoon to .223. Sure would be a lot more brass around for the latter...

JMO, though, having a rifle stamped anything but what the chamber actually is is a bad idea, just on general principles....

I agree; although it not being technically mine in the sense that I bought and paid for it. Tonight I plan to look the whole package over really well, (dies, bullets, brass) and catalog what is there and what I might need. Thankfully I don't load for or shoot anything that could be mistaken for that case, (280, 25-06)
