I'm amassing a number of squirrels - when I don't see deer while bow-hunting sometimes I get bored and have to try for a couple! :D

Anyway, I'm looking for a good squirrel pie recipe.

Anyone have a favorite?

I have never seen one. I bet from your postings that you have the skill to easily adapt a chicken or turkey pot pie recipe. :)

I would just substitue like Alt said. Boil the squirrel good and long, take the meat off the bone, and continue the rest of the recipe. You might consider adding a can of chicken broth while boiling the squirrels.

I have substituted rabbit for chicken and dumplings a couple of times and it worked great.

Thanks guys.
I have found a few recipes on the web and will probably try them.
Like you say, you could probably substitute virtually any meat into a good pot-pie recipe.

Now the big question is: do I make it and feed it to the wife without telling her it's squirrel? :-)

Never advise another man on his wife if you value his friendship! :D

I've more than half a mind to go up and knock down a few of those squirrels that provided me with so much entertainment last month...

Any great stand-by recipes for the little rascals? I don't know if the Missus would be willing to try it or not, but I expect the boys would be gung-ho for just about anything their ol' man can figure out how to bring home.... :eating:

They're so little they still think I'm pretty cool

If I get some, I'll try it...

Your reputation is such that I'm about ready to start drooling just thinking about it :D
