place rump roast in crock pot... add one can or so of french onion soup... cook for 6 to 8 hrs or so... you won't be disappointed...

This is the first recipe my wife and I had success with when she started cooking venison. Except we use 3 different soups: French Onion, Cream of Celery, and (I think), Cream of Mushroom. We do 10 hours on medium heat, and serve it over a plate of white rice. :)

For ease of preparation and good eats this is about the best around. I use the oven though because I like lots of potatoes, carrots, onions, etc....
Good recipe!

you can likewise throw the vegetable in the crock pot.... IMHO the crock pot cooked roast beats the oven cooked by a wide margin...

Oh, I'm not knocking the CP, it'll do the job well enough too. I like to use Cream of Mushroom soup and dry French onion soup mix as a rub and then just glop the Cream of Mushroom soup on top and spread it a little. The combo of those two makes for a good seasoning.

It is the only way I have found to get a venison roast that I did not consider dry.

You guys are making me hungry!
My step-son swears by Thousand Island dressing poured over a roast and put in the oven.

Ah, just had the first roast from the buck I shot a couple of weeks ago -- using the 3 soups/crock pot recipe. Delicious!
