Got worms? You must have all of ours by now. Opportunists that they are, they bunch up and eat the good stuff when they find it. As a kid the local cherry orchard with our pellet guns was always a target rich environment.

We have a 400' deep canyon with a river just north of here. Lots of cover & little snow most years. The fish & game claims that the robins just move into the canyon for the winter. They'd have to show me one, though. I've spent hundreds of winter hours duck hunting in there over the years and have NEVER seen one.

Hey NC, some of those robins are probably mine so if you don't mind
will you keep them warm and fed then send them back in the spring?

Thanks.:D:D:D:D

NC, I'd think that they would cook up just about like a woodcock as their diet is about the same. Reminds me of a rabbit hunt that a buddy and I did back when we were kids. All day Saturday hunt when we knew that half the day would be trying to catch the beagle as it ran deer instead of rabbits. Anyway, we got out there and had our bag lunches eaten by 8:30 in the morning. Come noon we decided that the only thing to eat was going to be cedar waxwing on a stick over an open fire. Toughest little birds that you can imagine and not very good either.

They are a rarity down here but in S. LA we had thousands every year. They are good to eat. They are good on a stick or floured and fried. Coonasses eat bunches of them every year. I don't think you're supposed to kill them. (tongue-in-cheek smiley icon goes here)

Cook them just like woodcock and snipe. They taste the same, maybe better. Just slit the breasts out and rip the breasts off the carcass. Oh, remember to pluck them but keep the skin on. Dust with flour, salt and pepper. Pan fry (saute) in butter to medium rare. They are particularily good after eating cherries for a couple of weeks. Greybeard/
