Got a quick question. I just received
a Puma skinner as a gift. Anyone have
any experience owning one of these?
How good is the Puma brand?
Thanks in advance.

I think Pumas are a reasonable knife for the price point. Years ago, they made some really good knives and the ones I've seen recently still seem to perform OK for their price. An older Puma White Hunter in good shape can be a pretty valuable collector's item.

I'm not familiar with the full range of steels that Puma is presently using. A lot of Pumas I've seen were made from an unspecified German stainless. It seems to work as well as many other production knives of similar price. However, it fails to excite steel enthusiasts who may be looking for something special, new, unusual, etc.
