World Record Bearded Warty Pig

Just thought I'd post this pic here for something different. This 15 1/4" world record was taken on one of my hunts in the Philippines. It is (will be/not sure if official yet) the SCI World Record for this rare species of wild pig.

It doesn't seem all that impressive to me, but... hey... who am I to judge... ;)

15 1/4 inches of what are they measuring? None of those guys look particularly happy about it.

I'm not very well-versed with SCI measurement procedures... a B&C/P&Y guy myself... but since this species of bearded warty pig has 'tusks' more like canine teeth, rather than what most people think of as wild boar tusks... I'm guessing that the score is based on skull measurement, as is the case when scoring a peccary.... but, damn... really not sure. I'll ask the PH or one of clients the next chance I get.

It's such a rare trophy that I really don't know that much about it. The last I had heard, there were only 4 of these pigs listed in the books.

Nice rooter! I'm also surprised those fellows aren't happier looking. I know a lot of filipinos and they all love pig!

I think this is kinda an Asian thing... 'the serious look' for pics that are meant to show you in a professional light. I remember when I first submitted my professionally taken head-shot photos for my work permit and teacher's license in Thailand (I was the Head of Department for a top international school for a number of years), the admin lady insisted that I go take new pics because I looked too friendly and happy! She said that I needed to look 'serious and important'! :D
