I'm going to start working up a varmint load soon and want to use my IMR 4831 powder. I found a load online for 110 gr. bullets in my 30-06. The load is 57-61.8gr. of IMR 4831. I want to know if any of you have used loads online or know if this load will work. I'm just a little scared to use loads found online because of the crazy people out there that like to get people hurt. The web site:

Again if anyone has used a load off of this page and had good or bad experience with it please post it. I was going to download it a little because the gun is old but if the whole load is screwed up then I'll just throw the whole idea out the window.
Why do you not use loads from a published loading manual from one of the major companies in the business? I trust the trained scientist with high tech labs and a business reputation and liability to back them up over something I read from a fellow on the Internet.

Steve is no idiot but why not just use a known good reloadng manual? Steve's loads are good ... for his rifles. His ain't your's so you may as well start where he did. ??

I did look in my lee modern reloading book but there is mot a load for IMR 4831. I am running low on IMR 4350 which the book has a load for and I really don't feel like searching all over the planet for more.

ALWAYS ,ALWAYS CROSS CHECK, loads you see on line with at least three totally different hand-load manuals, and if the loads listed on line don,t come very close to agreement, with the manual load ranges theres something wrong
Ive occasionally seen really erroneous load data posted , and if I was not in the habit of checking against a minimum of three manuals I might have been in serious trouble, but always remember to start low and work up to max loads as on some rifles/hand guns even the manuals are excessive
Ditto on what Rimrock said. I have seem to many misprints in forums and in books occasionally. But I would trust a book first. If you don't want to buy another book you can get on-line with bullet or powder companies to get loads.

Well, thing is, 4831 is quite a bit too slow for real hopes of accuracy with a light bullet in -06. That's why few books will have loads for that combo.

sharpshooter94, If you don't want to do this reloading thing right (which sometimes entails searching all over the planet) then I would suggest you not do it. You're asking internet people if a load you found on the internet is a good safe load.
If I found a load on stevespages I would trust it.........right after I checked it out like rimrock says. Steve R. would do the same with one of my loads. BTW, Steve knows his Schitt when it comes to reloading.
It does no good to sit around after the fact and wonder what went wrong. Don't leave anything to chance.

the reason I asked here is because I trust the combined opinions of everyone that posts here. If that is an unfounded trust please tell me.

You trust me? You're in PA, have never laid eyes on me and only know that I'm some goober that has a computer and the time to type.
I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm trying to help you keep your fingers and toes. I can be typing along and talk about my 45 colt load of 7 gr Unique and 250 gr cast bullet. I can go on down and talk about my 38 S&W load of 2.5 gr Bullseye. If I get the two mixxed up and tell you to load 7 gr of Bullseye in your 38 S&W and you do it because you trust me, (goober on the internet) then we're going to be wondering why you don't post much any more. Oh, and you're not going to trust me any more after that.
All I'm saying is check it out in at least two bona fide reloading manuals. If it still seems reasonable, then go for it.
My rule is: If any part of it anything that I am doing in the reloading process doesn't feel or seem right, I scrap the load and start over.
I can start over lots of times I can't reattach digits. Reloading is not "Rocket Surgery" (I just stole that today. I can't stop laughing about it) but you have to treat it like it is.

Don't take it personally. It's good you are asking around. You can probably trust most of the goobers on this site though except the ones that are untrustworthy.

And it appears that the combined opinions of everyone is that you should stick to the data in a published reloading manual
