This short video clip is of Kris Winkelman (Babe Winkelman's wife - Outdoor Secrets on VERSUS TV) killing her first ever game animal with a bow on one of my Montana hunts (guide: Kevin Williams).
Although she saw many larger bulls, she ended up anchoring a decent little 5x5. You can see the full hunt on Winkelman's Outdoor Secrets on VERSUS TV... there you're sure to see some great big bull footage, too...

Great video, Bill...... thanks for posting it. She sure was pleased with the hunt and guide service, you can just tell it in her actions not just her words. I heard that Babe Winkelman says that if he ever kills a super big bull elk in his life that it will be with you guys there in Montana. Considering he can hunt anywhere he wants, that's a pretty good promo for you guys! Take care and I'll be sending you an email.

Yep, I also heard that he said that about this hunt area. Looking forward to your email.

Bill, Do you know yet if the fish and game is really going to mess up the license draws in the near future for these archery hunts?

Yes and no. They have reduced the license fees for this coming year, so that is a good thing. I need to update my website.
The "regrouping" of the 23 elk-archery districts in central and eastern Montana outside the Missouri River Breaks into one “bundle” of limited either-sex archery permits is still being pushed heavily by the F&G. The public comment meetings were quite interesting, because as soon as 'people in the know' spoke out, all went dead quiet as they could not back their proposal with science nor plan as to how to achieve what they claim to be trying to achieve (i.e. easier pvt land access for all local Montana archery hunters + a permit that allows hunting in several areas).
First, anyone who thinks that many/most of these ranchers will allow just anybody to hunt their acreage is smoking some powerful willie-weed. It will not happen across the board, as there are no more stubborn folk than an old rancher who feels like he's been p!ssed upon. There is no need to get into all the issues here, but being very close to 20-some of these large ranch owners and being an agricultural/wildlife-managed property owner myself... I just cannot imagine this working out as F&G think.
Here's the bottom line: If they force this through (and knowing them, they will... not much different than the wolves and all the rest), the chance of drawing for my central MT hunts will be reduced from 100% to approx 45% because it will be bundled into a 'block' with several districts with much fewer elk / tags that were much harder to draw. The biggest b!tch is that they push this right during prime booking season and thusly it makes clients very uneasy and outfitters and ranchers (who are really hurting financially right now) wonder just what the future truly holds.
They told me that there would a decision made sometime in Feb.
