Attaching photos

What's the trick here? I loaded a couple pics on my HA album. When I tried to insert them in a thread, they come up as a red X. Looking at the properties of the pics, they don't show 'jpg' at the end of the name as is required on every other board I've posted to. How about this one?
I didn't see anything in FAQ about attaching pics.
