What's the best way to attach the bayonet? or what's the trick?

Customer brought one in and it seemed not to fit over the barrel.:banghead:

The one I have is the same way. In fact, everyone I've seen, it looks as if the inside of the bayonet needs a little sandpaper so it will slide on. Yes, I know you slide it on and the twist it around the front sight.

Yes, occasionally you need to put a piece of sandpaper in a wooden gizmo chucked into a drill and HONE out the inside diameter of the bayonet collar. It seems there was a lot of variation in barrel diameters and bayonet socket diameters with the 91/30. Most of my bayonets fit my 91/30s. I bought a new bayonet at a recent gun show that would not go over the barrels to lock on UNTIL I honed it out.
