View Full Version : Ruger Security 6 help
I can't re-assemble triggr guard assembly. When I get it about 1/2 way in, solid resistance prevents further closing. Transfer bar & paul seem to be preventing it from closing; (Both of these parts fall out easily especially when trigger is pulled) I have tried repeatedly and have tried to force paul into recess but then transfer bar seems to be out of alignment. I have a feeling this is an easy fix but I can't figure it out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Al

Don't feel bad, I've read where they are tough to get back together,
but they'll go after a lot of @#%$^%$.
The one guy said they get easier the 2nd time !!
Can you go here...

Thanks again Bill; It looks like it might be same info as in my instruction manual with diagram but it shuts down after few seconds. My manual says,"...If solid resisance is felt or trigger guard will not shut, check position of Pawl and transfer bar." I think pawl & transfer bar are installed correctly but when I try to force pawl into recessed area, it either falls out, or pops out of position. I was thinkin there may be some trick or technique I'm not aware of.

Are you pulling the trigger back while inserting the assembly? Make sure the hand makes it's way into it's slot. http://www.ruger.com/products/_manuals/securitySix.pdf
This link should take you to the Ruger web page and a PDF of the Security Six owners manual.
[QUOTE=Lumox;20992]Are you pulling the trigger back while inserting the assembly? Make sure the hand makes it's way into it's slot. /QUOTE] Should I be? Manual makes no mention. All that has happened so far is to have pawl &/or transfer bar fall from assembly when I try.

The you tube video that you can't play says to pull the trigger to the rear while inserting the assembly.
The you tube video that you can't play says to pull the trigger to the rear while inserting the assembly.
Pulling trigger helps; There's still something else I'm missing. If I ever get this back together, I'll never "Field strip" again despite how easy my instruction manual says it is.

First install cylinder and close
while putting in trigger assb. cock and hold
at this point the muzzle is on the table
Pawl and trans fer bar have to be aligned if not use a Screw driver
to align the transfer bar via the hammer entrance channel
hammer goes in second to LAST
the hammer spring goes in last
Thanks to everyone; I'll report back when finished. Al
It's in! What I needed was simultaneously use 1 hand to close cylinder while using 1 hand to hold transfer bar & paul in place, while using 1 hand to pull trigger back, and 1 hand to close assembly into frame. Yeah really easy. Thanks again to everyone.
