View Full Version : How to hunt lions.....
So that's where 'Bad Ass' comes from....

Story has it that the cat came after the dogs but got snagged by the tail by the mule, which then slammed it around by the tail, stomped it, chomped it, and kicked it around a bit more for good measure....
I'm thinkin' that's not exactly what happened, but hey... It's February....

What do youn think happened?
Call me a pessimist or a cynic if you want, but I would be less than shocked to find out that the cat was dead before the mule got a hold of it.
Seriously - a cougar charging in on a pack of dogs? And - according to the legend, also two people and two mounts? That seems more than a little unlikely... in broad daylight....with little or no cover.... and a camera conveniently in hand...:hmmmm:

Well you can sit speculating or you could go to Snopes entering, "cougar mule fight" to know. But then having seen you bloviate (thank you Bill O'Reilly for introducing me to this oh so appropriate term) on what Texan's should do about their feral hogs I know how badly you hate educating yourself as opposed to supposing to know.
Well, it turns out my education was up to the challenge without consulting Snopes, but yes, as I surmised (and clearly only surmised), the cat was good & dead to begin with. At least according to the mule's owner. According to snopes.
And if you really think I'm so FOS about the prospects for an enterprising individual turning your feral hog problem into a profitable for-market hunting/trapping operation, then perhaps you wouldn't mind answering my questions about how much it costs to set up and bait a trap and how many hogs you can expect to capture in an area before the rest of them wise up and kill your efficiency. Rough averages would be plenty good enough.
Or, if you don't have those figures handy, I'm still waiting for an articulate response as to how it is that it could be less profitable to trap hogs and sell them than to trap them, kill them, and cover the expense of dumping or burying the carcasses. :hmmmm:
Seems to me that a guy with experience in the pest control business ought to have some kind of a handle on these things, but maybe it's a trade secret or something...:dontknow:
You know, a real cynic might even start to wonder if the guys currently getting paid for that kind of pest control wouldn't care to have to compete with somebody who could make a little profit on the back end of the deal and do the hog removal for less....:flute:

The answers to your questions are in the thread and you have chosen to refuse to accept them. There is little I can do with wilful ignorance and I will not try.
Yes I knew the answer before I referred you to Snopes. But until you checked and verified your guess, you did not know. You were simply speculating.

GF, those pictures came up a few years ago somewhere. Obviously the mule does not like cats, alive or dead, and they're great pictures. As for proper English, what does "youn" mean? Is that slang for "young" or something else? What happened to Alt's hat? Did the mule eat it? Greybeard/

:biggrin:Well come winter that hat stays on the hat tree and the felt Stetson or the camo canvas broad brim comes out. Spring sees the canvas aerated brimmed hat comes into play, but come summer it is straw. Depending on mood it may be the old beat up Stetson you know, the Panama or my pith helmet. Then again maybe a mule would add a little more character to that old hat and its sea shell hatband.
You were simply speculating.
Yes, and said so when I did. Not much use in an education if you have to go look everything up, is there?
What happened to Alt's hat? Did the mule eat it? Greybeard/
Now, now, no need to insult the man... And I really doubt he would've eaten his own hat... Unless he'd lost a bet or somethin'.....
