I just entered escrow on a place in the Smith Valley, about an hour southeast of Carson City. I hope to close on 3/19 and cart a bunch of hardware up there soon after.
The property has a lot of quail and deer on it and shotguns may be discharged. In fact, the present owner has obtained depredation tags for deer in the past.
Living in the country will probably mean a lot more practical knife use than in Left Angeles!

Thanks! I ought to be able to do a lot of horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and even road cycling on the relatively flat valley roads. Should finally be ready to deploy the Rokon 2WD motorcycle too.
I will be very glad to ease my way out of Los Smogeles.

Sounds like a great acquisition. I've been wondering when you were going to get that Rokon of yours out from under the tarp? Great machine, but rather specialized and sure not street legal in LA.

Thanks!
I'm driving up to the property next Wed. and closing escrow on Fri. I'll be towing my '75 Bronco, with the Rokon in the bed of the pickup I'll be driving. I was pleased to read that Nevada does not presently require registration/licensing of ATVs, although it's apparently coming. There are a good deal of BLM and native wildlands around a mile from the property so I should be able to ride the Rokon, mountain bikes, and horses up in the mountains regularly.
I'm hauling along an old hunting buddy to see whether he wants to relocate to the property as well. He's a geezer of around 84 and has wanted to get out of LA for over 20 years but has never made any progress toward pulling it off. He loves horses and riding (which would improve his mobility a lot) so I'd like to see him enjoy his last years. There's a guest cottage he could take if he likes the area. He would love to pop one of the big mulie does on a depredation tag and I have a feeling the quail would have to be concerned about his air rifle. Knife Content: He's the king of crappy knives (Chinese/Pakistani) except for one old Abercrombie & Fitch blade and a couple he made out of file steel. I never let him touch my good knives as a result of a mistake in that area about 15 years ago.
I appreciate the good wishes!
