Recently I stopped into a web site to which I subscribe and made a post on its bulletin board. A friend answered back that he had wondered what happened to me. I responded with the explanation that I was not angry towards anyone or offended by something that was said, I had just been really busy lately. Then I composed and sent the following to those who were accustomed in hearing from me on a semi-regular basis, and to others where I thought this might do some good, like you and like here…
Good People -
Tony Clapp, a friend from MS and I are now Co-Administrators of a brand new site for sportsmen with limitations. Physically Challenged Sportsmen of America (http://www.pcsoa.webs.com) is still not totally complete but promises to become a means to make the outdoors more accessible for all. Through education, technical support, and perhaps special adaptive equipment all of us, although restricted, can still and again pursue those outdoor sports we have enjoyed in the past safely and with greater regularity.
If not yet, every one of us will face a life-altering condition which affects our mobility. It is called advanced age. Some of us have already been stricken down by a mishap that occurred while serving in the military or in public service. Others have incurred a limitation through some accident or disability. Family members and friends reading these words may want to be supportive in helping us find our smile again. So, if you or someone you know might find this useful please check us out and register free as a member if you like the potential you see. As a grass-roots member you may become as active as you choose in the site.
With enough interest, we hope to ultimately form a non-profit entity to stage outdoor opportunities for our members all across the country in cooperation with other appropriate organizations. Then we will be able to offer tax-deductions for contributions from sponsors of finance, goods, and services. Finances will help offset the costs we incur; goods and services will be offered to those in need. Maybe you know of others who are already doing what we are attempting. We don’t see it as a duplication of effort. As we see it, the more awareness our cause receives the better it will be for all sportsmen.
BE WELL OR AS WELL AS YOU CAN BE,
Rob Moss
