Hi... as you probably can imagine I still have a lot of things to accomplish on these boards as in installing moderators, working on the outward appearance of these boards... adding and moving forums around as needed. All data from the old forums is gone so old passwords, user names, post counts, email addresses, etc.. are GONE.

Please let me know if you are interested in being a forum leader... meaning someone who is interested in getting a forum moving and active. Removing objectional posts is usually less than .000001% of that job.

Please let me know if you see something that is missing, needs improving. Please let others know to get to the forums they only need to go to www.huntamerica.com and look for the talk forum link. The direct link to the forums is www.huntamerica.com/forum

Many thanks to those who made financial contributions towards getting moved to a new server and new software. Many advertisers have went out of business due to the economy so I will be asking for folks to consider helping to support the site through making donations or by making purchases. See the links below... we all know that it is a tough economy.

Is all the information from the previous forum gone? There was some great information.

the old forums are gone, the MySQL server had a major crash. The old forums were a dying duck anyways... the server was too slow, too much down time, this system if far superior with the new more powerful server that we are on and the new forum software.

We actually have more traffic now than we had before the crash... if more people would post msgs then we would attract many more members. Right now the majority of members are lurking only for the most part. I hope that will change soon.

The Smelt are accumulating below the dam, when are we going to open the fish ladders?

The old forums were a...

S-l-o-w is a conservative exaggeration, whether fast or slow hookup, I found it faster to close the page, re-enter HA and go to the post I wanted to view. A second time loading/try, it usually functioned properly versus just waiting.

Right click and 'Open in', takes the boredom out of slow sites also.

Do you think the gene pool will ever return to what it once was? :( There's a bucket-load of peeps who used to be here. Faithfully! The 'Hesitation' of this site drove a few too many members to greener pastures...

This site is now probably as fast if not faster than 99.999% of similar sites on the web. Please correct me if I am wrong. It only takes a few dedicated posters to get this thing going again. We now have more active participation than before the crash. Build a better mouse trap and I think we have done that. I see no obstacles standing in the way of this site becoming one of the more active sites of its kind on the web.

swamp,

I was forum leader for many years on Military Surplus Firearms. I would like to resume that position. Please advise.

Badger, I will be setting up moderators in a week or two. I will put you in that slot. I want to make sure moderators know how to work the controls. Honestly the main job of moderators is to keep the forum active.. that is 99.9999% of the job. Deletion of posts is about .00000000001% of that job.

Anyone who wants to be a moderator {(forum leader) is the better term}... can start by making posts to that particular forum and getting it active.

Can't the old threads be loaded in here from a backup disk?
