Just spent nearly three weeks in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains (http://www.rockhoundingar.com/geology/ouamtns.html) of Arkansas.

The place I was staying is fairly remote, the kind of place when you hear a vehicle out on the rock road, you look at it go by between the trees across the lower pasture. One day I counted 8 vehicles go by but four of them was the neighbor in and out.

At night there were no all night lights in sight and my wife and I spent a good bit of time sitting out in the yard looking at the stars. My wife is quite an expert in this area as the story of man is written in the stars and she knows it well. I learned some stuff I didn't know.

,,, like about the sheepsfolds.

without googling, Do you know what a sheepfold is?

Don't know about the sheepfold.

Your story did remind me of my north MO hunting pals. We were gathered at John's barn the night before the deer openner. John says "Well you can tell it's deer season, just look at the traffic."

There were headlights from two trucks driving on the gravel road about two miles aross the valley. He called it traffic.

While I was there the preacher brought over a bow for me to look at. It was homemade of Bodark (Osage orange) and missing the string so I didn't get to try it, but it looked VERY nice for 'homemade'. It was the red variety of Osage and from memory I'd guess about 56" in length, maybe 58. Seemed short for a long bow but it sure was pretty. I wasn't hittin on all cylinders along then and forgot all about taking pics of it.

Same with the 60's vintage Ben Pearson 45# takedown I did shoot a time or two, checking out the vintage fish arrow and old hoop type reel it had attached to it. I forgot about pics of it. The old rig still worked well and although I didn't shoot at any fish with it, I certainly feel I could have, had one presented itself. That bow shot good.
