things just don't figure.

Tuesday afternoon I took the flyrod and a deerhair Madam X tied on a #8 hook and flat tore the bream up down at the creek. A lot (most) of them were small but I caught one on almost every cast, for about 2 hrs. All released.

Wed afternoon, same bait, almost the same weather conditions and wind, same place ,,, and I caught not a single fish. Only a couple of rises, not a single fish.

and this part is funny but true. Tue evening the skeeters were terrible when I loaded the boat. Wed evening they were hardly around at all. :confused1:

The mosquitoes constituted a "hatch"?

The mosquitoes constituted a "hatch"?

that's why I asked the pres. question.
may have been a hatch, but not necessarily feeding on mosquitoes.
rising pressure may have triggered the hatch.

Baro pressure will do that as will hatch forage conditions. I once saw an area of about a mile by 400 yds which was thick with fish and lobster early in the day but later, after a front passed it was like a desert underwater, downright spooky! With bluegills it's hard to say but perhaps they whole bunch had sore lips following your initial foray.
