Fishing canoes have been around a while and are fine craft. Particularly for coastal fishermen I think the kayak is a better fit but each craft has advantages. It maybe kind of a Chevy/ Ford thing. Or maybe sportster vs truck. :)

I had this canoe with a 4 horse Merc (17' Grumman square stern, I still use the 1970 4 horse Merc for a trolling motor) for over 30 years, and used it a lot for fishing up in Quebec. That canoe has seen a ton of Walleyes come over it's sides, and I loved it :D
As years went on it languished up in my barn loft unused for over 20 years straight. I finally gave it to the son's of a good friend that lives in Minnesota.
They use the heck out of it, and it now is painted Camo for duck hunting also.
I told the oldest boy "Get a fat girlfriend to ride in the front :p "

Find an old Grumman Sport Canoe and buy it. They made a 15' version and a 19' version. They are hard to find used because the people that have them don't sell them. When our 5 hp would not work, we put a 25 hp on it and fished Lake Superior with it. Kind of like trying to plane a banana, but it worked.
