While my wife and daughter were getting there hair trimmed I decided to waste some time at my local gunshop.

I wasnt really looking for anying in particular, but I couldnt help to check the pocket pistol section of the case. ( Ok I looked at all the pistols and most of the rifles also)

I have been VERY pleased with my personal carry pistol which was a S&W 638 stainless airweight, but it had one negative I never really cared for. This was the humpback pistol with the nub sized hammer and though I liked the option of thumbing the hammer back it had the nasty habit of gathering all the lint and dust a pocket could hold even while in a leather pocket holster.

I caught myself looking at the same style pistol with the internal hammer and I simply couldnt find a good reason for me not to make the switch.

The store owner was gracious in his value of my pistol and in short fashion I was packing something that felt as comfortable as my old pistol without the need to perform the maintenance of cleaning dust bunnies from around the hammer shroud.

I hate it when that happens. All the best...

it's a 38spl that's +P rated.
I would have liked to have tried this pistol in the new 327 Federal magnum especially if it would have gained me a 6th round instead of the standard 5 you get in
the 38, but sadly S&W has yet to build a J fram in this cartridge. (At least I have yet to hear of it yet)

S&W made a run of J frames chambered for a 32H&R magnum and I owned one for a short while.
At the time the public did not flock to that cartridge and production soon stopped
Nice pistol but the full hammer would catch in my pocket as I pulled it out hence the reson I traded it in.
