A couple years ago in the spring, I watched a pair of owls hunting a tall fescue field. One would perch on the smallest little sapling, the other would fly by 25-30yrds and find its own perch. They would sit for 90 seconds, and then the owl in back would fly 20-30yrds infront of it's partner. I watched them for 40 minutes working together hunting mice. It was cool to see them hunting as a team, and using/backing each other.

on another note: I have been in a tree stand a few times and have had an owl veer off at the last moment right at my face... probably was going for my eyes... yikes

The last time I was bow hunting in Ohio I set up on a trail inside the woods but it also overlooked a field.
Saw a big owl swoop down into the field and start dancing around on it's talons with it's wings up and outstretched.
Shortly it stopped and then stood over it's kill with it's wings spread. One of the coolest things I've seen 'live' in the wild.
It looked to me like it covered the 40 yards from it's tree to the spot in the field in about 1 second. That's something like 70 miles an hour!
