Over the last several years I have delayed some major home maintenance that is getting done this year. I had built two storage sheds (and my garage is still full:laugh:). One still needed doors and the other required trim to finish. The house had large portions of the facea (47 years old) that need replacement before painting and new siding on the eaves. The roof was due replacement as well.

Between work, classes, exams, family demands and more I have the doors built and on, the trim up, facea replaced, gables resided with Hardi-Plank, new exterior doors (3) on the house and now have one board to adjust the placement of and a bit of wood filler/caulk to apply. The roofers come Friday and the painters can have it next week. I am glad to be wrapping it up!

Don't feel too bad guys. This is over several months and my wife finally made it clear this was the year of no more excuses!:afraid::afraid::afraid: Besides it all had to be done for the painters to do their job!

Well, as long as it was an ultimatum sort of thing, I guess it's ok. Now if you had gone out on your own and done all that stuff it would be different.

Around here there are a lot of houses built in the mid 1800 (mine 1866). At that time there obviously was a SEVERE shortage of levels, squares, and rulers and NOTHING in these homes is square, level, or measures the same distance from one side to the other at both ends.

Home improvement projects around here are a form of competition among the husbands in the area, and so far I'm fairly high in the scoring.
Flights of stairs are one of the #1 items in sorry need of repair. In my house I had a flight of 10 stairs that went up to the 2nd floor. I honestly am not kidding, the height of the individual stairs in that run actually measured between 7 to 13", with the 7" stairs at the bottom, and the 13" at the top (Try running up those when in a hurry !!).
My neighbor thought he was pretty good at the art of procrastinating, he stated repairing his stairs, and finally finished the trim molding 18 years latter.

I started mine 31 years ago, and finished it 2 months ago....

I Won That One, Hands Down !!!!!

Texas was still a frontier then!

I've never lived anything more than 18 years (From birth until HS graduation).

The roofers weren here today and I am a few thousand dollars poorer, LOL. A few final touches this weekend and I turn it over to the painters.
