That church look's familiar, where is it located

I don't envy you!!! We hit an index of 100 degrees at 11:00 AM and it has now cooled to 100 degrees at 8:21 PM. It is hard enough working in the yard, let alone on a roof where I am sure it is hitting at least 115-120 degrees if not higher.:smokin::smokin::smokin:

Sounds brutal up there.
I spent about an hour this afternoon cutting up stumps with a chainsaw and loading them in the truck.
Got completely drenched with sweat.

72.3 degrees on my outside thermometer right now. The rest of the country looks like the tropics. A roofer down south sure earns his money. I don't know how you guys stand it.

Yesterday at 3:30 it was 99 with an index of 108!

About 2pm today I started seeing everything in polka dots.

Came down, drink about a half gallon of water, and took an hour nap on the church floor. :cool1:

Everybody's been looking at me funny since then, but I worked on till dark.

Potecasi, NC (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=potecasi+nc&rlz=1R2GGLL_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Potecasi,+North+Carolina&gl=us&ei=SQhFTKCmLs-nnQeztKDqDQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBYQ8gEwAA)

The church is built on a fairly common plan for churches. I've done several with the same layout.

I am not surprised NC.

Hey Alt, isn't that 100+ spot on the thermometer where it's marked "BROIL"? lol

My son lives just south of Austin and last summer he would call me as he was driving home
and it seemed like it was 100+ all summer.
He'd tell me, it's hot but with out the humidity it's not too bad.

I think his brain got fried. 100 + is damn hot anywhere.

I grew up in Galveston County, Texas where summer temps of 95 degrees at 95% humidity was the norm. Later in life I spent 3 years in the Sonoran desert 30 miles north of Yuma, AZ. There it was 110-115 degrees with the occassional 120 or so and humidity of 40% during the "monsoons" of August. People would say it is not so bad without the humidity.

My response was invariably that I had lived in both environments. In one you wore the the heat in liquid form constantly. In the other you felt the moisture sucked from your lungs with every breath. In either case miserable was miserable and it made no difference to me.:argh:

Alt, you will be on envy come January, but right now it is 70.9 on my outside thermometer. Dad had a place in Yuma, AZ. for the winter and I would hear about your "dry heat". We cook a turkey in the oven and that is dry heat too.

One thing nice about the high desert - it cools off at night. We've been running around 90 for several weeks with the humidity around 30%. We can expect it to drop 30 to 40 degrees at night so sleeping is much better. We open up the house in the evening and turn on a fan and then close it up in the morning and it will stay in the 70's all day inside.

At 4:30 yesterday we were 102 degrees with and index of 107 degrees. At 6:30 this morning it is 77.

75 at 7am here in MO. 80% humidity. It's gonna be one of those days. Ugh.

Last year we made the mistake of visiting our daughter in San Antonio in August.
It was great to see her, but it went over 100 degrees EVERY day...

Bill, but it is dry heat.

I put a bunch of extra insulation in the house for keeping the heat in during the winter, but a very nice side benefit has been that it keeps the cool in the house all day now too. I blow in that 60's cool stuff at night through the screen in the patio door and close it up during the day so I don't need to run the ac.

I saw on the weather this morning the heat index in Memphis yesterday was between 120 and 130f. That's pretty uncomfortable.

At 4:15 I just checked and the U.S. Weather service reports 100 degrees which is not the hottest this year, but the heat index of 130 degrees they show may be the hottest index of the year.
