Girl, 4, loses foot in lawn mower accident near Grand Rapids
Plainfield Township -- Authorities say a 4-year-old girl's foot was amputated after it was run over by a riding lawn mower in southwestern Michigan.
WOOD-TV and the Grand Rapids Press report her father was operating the mower Thursday afternoon when the girl's left leg was injured. The accident happened in Kent County's Plainfield Township, about 8 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
Emergency personnel stopped the bleeding, and the girl was expected to survive.
The girl was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
