Girl, 4, loses foot in lawn mower accident near Grand Rapids

Plainfield Township -- Authorities say a 4-year-old girl's foot was amputated after it was run over by a riding lawn mower in southwestern Michigan.

WOOD-TV and the Grand Rapids Press report her father was operating the mower Thursday afternoon when the girl's left leg was injured. The accident happened in Kent County's Plainfield Township, about 8 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.

Emergency personnel stopped the bleeding, and the girl was expected to survive.

The girl was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. Names of those involved weren't immediately released.

My best friend in kindergarden was run over by a riding lawnmower. For some reason that I forget, if I ever knew, he fell off the Snapper Comet (remember those) mower and it somehow ran over him. As a grown up I now ask what the heck his father was thinking letting a 6 year old cut the grass with any kind of power mower but in Kindergarden I just missed my bud.

He recovered BTW but had awful scars on his legs. He ended up being a star on my high school basketball team.

I wonder what old Bradley is up to these days?
