I've been ice fishing in Canada when it was -25*F.
There were a lot of people out on the ice that day. When we came in off the ice we were 7 miles from our cars.
We had to stop once in a while and rub our hands on our 4 wheeler mufflers so we could get back on and ride.
That's when a Mad Bomber Hat, and a good pair of choppers pay for themselves within 2 miles .

Man, those look cozy.

Coldest I ever was - Canadian Rockies ice climbing in January.
It was about -40F. Had all the clothes on that I could put on, and still started to freeze the second I stopped moving.

Come to think of it, there was a lot of action at the video store... :D

A wise Canadian once said "there is no such thing as cold just an absence of heat. ":)

Coldest here was -28 in town, -34 just outside. That cold there's no wind and all the oil burner, wood stove, and car/truck exhaust just sits in the bottom of the valleys like gray fog.

If you can get them started, cars and trucks have a very differant 'sound' to them when the metal gets that cold.

But the coldest I've ever been was taking the 12 - 4 am steering watch, sailing at night south of Nova Scotia in August..... and the air temp was only 40F.

I had on thermal undies, jeans and heavy work shirt, Bean boots with wool boot socks, Navy wool watch cap, rubber insulated gloves, a Sterns 'flak jacket' life vest, foul weather jacket and pants, and an Airforce artic parka over all that.

Sitting for a few hours on an open deck, in fog, with damp windchill can really do a number on ya.
