Sad news. I liked his videos because in spite of the hype and bravado he showed that he made mistakes and is human like the rest of us.

From Sport Fishing magazine

On his way to Alaska to tape his TV show, Tred Barta recently suffered a rare occurrence called a spinal stroke. He is currently paralyzed from just below the chest down. Prognosis is way up in the air at the moment. His message to everyone is… "Don't take a single second of your life for granted." Send him best wishes at tred.barta@bartaiso.com.

Because of the encouragement from the friends and Family I have, I've made it through a triple bypass, and a liver transplant.... and still climb those trees after the deer.
I sent him a get well note, you got to admit, like him or not, he's his "OWN MAN".

I'd never heard of a spinal stroke.

Sounds scarey. Do people fully recover from this?

A rare affliction, it's said.
I also heard that the recovery is iffy. He may regain some use.
Not many details right now.

Makes you think twice about putting that hunting trip off 'til "next year", eh?"

If I had the money I would not have.

I have thought at times that this guy is a maniac but I have always respected his hunting and fishing ethics. He wears the term "fair chase" on his sleeve.

I concur with the rest, enjoy it while you can because your life can change on a dime. I survived a triple by-pass at 47, and a tree stand fall last year, and I know how suddenly it can happen. I was lucky and survived both without being disabled but it's only by the grace of God that I am typing these words.

Get well Tred.
