MA, CA- approved???

As I've been looking around, I see every manufacturer notes whether each model has been OK'd in Massachusetts and California... But I have no idea what the features are that make a given model OK or Verboten in each case.

Luckily, I don't live either place, but I'm wondering what the requirements might be for these two states.

Both those states are anti-gun and the handgun requirements are stringent with nonsense restrictions/requirements. Offhand, I do not recall the specifics my Massachusetts buddy told me last time we chatted. As I recall, the Colt M1911 was Verboten until it had more bells and whistles installed because it failed the drop test.

In both states plus NY the magazine has to be limited to 10 rounds. I always laugh at that when I watch the Bianchi Cup. The lawmakers would load their pants if they saw how fast those boys can swap mags.:D
