I sure thought we had something going on the other day with the wife's Jeep Laredo. It was losing a bit of power going up the hills and a little sputter every now and then. She had filled the tank up just the day before and had no problems until that tank of gas was put into the vehicle.
I purchased some "dryer" along with injector cleaner, double what it calls for in the tank. So things I hope will clear up soon but having to much of that corn product in the tank is very hard on engines and could cost a person a lot of repair bills down the road.

My gas has not been too bad since I started taking those little green capsules.:D
Fortunately we do not have to buy that ethanol crap. When visiting my brother in Houston where that is the only thing legal to pump I fill up before entering "the zone". When caught there you bet I buy only enough to get out and begin diluting it as possible.

My #1 worktruck has developed a real problem. I'm not sure if fuel is the cause or what. I'm pretty sure a sensor is screwing up. I haven't had time to put it in the shop and see what the computer says but it's forcing the issue. I did put some 'heat' in the gas tank but it didn't help. :(

The gas in our area is running $2.29 to $2.35 per gallon and diesel fuel is running $2.49 a gallon.:)

Gas here is $2.65. Never could justify the big differences in these prices.

No way I should be reporting a petroleum product problem to the "The Department of Agriculture Consumer Affairs"!
What a screwed up plan. Can we stop this bad idea with our dollar votes somehow?

I fixed my truck without putting it in the shop. :)
I had a small leak from the water pump weep hole and decided to fix that first. A new water pump and fuel filter and the missing and jerking stopped.
Never seen a new water pump make a truck run better but it did this time.

But the fuel filter had nothing to do with it?!?!?!
Sputtering, lack of fuel? Unclogged nice new filter,,
But it was the water pump. R-i-g-h-t-!
Not! :D

Actually I replaced the fuel filter before tackling the water pump and the missing continued.

I have a 10 yr old Nissan Frontier truck that is missing on the #5 cylinder every so often, but never acts like it is going to die. After running a couple things down, I'm about sure the distributer is getting worn on the contacts and #5 is the first to start going. Being a shade tree mechanic is not something I like to do, but it does rate above spending money. When I think about it, if I replaced the truck it would be with one just like it so it is worth the effort. That and spending $900 less than a month ago to get the air conditioning fixed has me motivated to keep it running nice and smooth.
It wasn't the gass or injectors though, I ran some injector/carb cleaner first thing and didn't get any help there. Same thing with changing the fuel filter, no improvement. With it occasionally missing on #5 cylinder, I'm now pretty sure it's electrical/ignition specific to that cylinder.

I need to check the gas mileage on mine.
It's still not running like perfectly new but it's running pretty good. The gas mileage is the telling tale to me.
One reason I'm not a mechanic is greasy hands, which I hate. I know how to do the work but dislike it. I did change the water pump for 55 bucks though. :D
My 3/4ton Silverado is another matter. Brakes went out on it and I took it down the road to a farmer friend that's good with this stuff. He replaced a difficult rusted metal brake line, rebuilt a rear dual piston caliper, and replaced a rotor all for $364 ($120 in labor). A shop would have busted me for a thousand bucks for all that work.
The old rotor came off in two pieces. My wife said it was making a 'funny noise'. No doubt. :o

Sounds like my wife.
"Hey Dave, my check engine light came on last week, could you check it for me?"
LAST WEEK!

Or when my step-daughter (she is blond) said "Dad, what do all those red lights on the dashboard mean?" Or her mother saying her car has been making a funny noise. That one cost me a new engine.
