Don't know who took the pics, taken not too far from Baxter State Park. Seems bigger than your average bull moose?

I think I might need a second freezer. It also just might be the first deer I did not butcher myself in years. :)

I'd be glad to butcher that one.

and looks like he's coming out at the right place for the job too. :)

I am not sure I would want the job on my own, but on shares it shouldn't be too bad.:)

How come there are spots of sunshine under him? A vampire moose maybe that doesn't throw a shadow? On the 2d pic, if you figure he's 6' at the top of the shoulder, the road is only about 4 to 5' wide under the front hoof. I have to admit I'm suspicious.

I've done a number of elk and a couple moose. I've done an elk myself in about 3 hrs, boned without gutting. It's not hard, but it takes some time, especially in a bad spot. When you shoot something this big, it's like golf - you play it where it lies.

The width of the 'road' doesn't bother me so much - I've been on a lot of paths that look like that, but are not as wide as you might assume them to be if you had a pic with nothing there to give you the scale... Is that a logging road, an ATV trail, or just a path someone cut for mountain bking or wheelchair access?

But I also think I see some halo effect as one might expect in an none-too-perfect example of fun & games with photoshop...

Nice-lookin' bull, no matter what, though... Just think how big he'll be by the time he starts saggin' in the belly....

I would have a hard time dragging that bull very far. Nice photo.

That picture shows a very tall but very thin bodied moose! Well, no problem with sectioning that critter up quick, just use that little chain saw and you can have him back to the barn in no time.:D:D

Sun spots and shadows, the road size along with the size for an Eastern Moose leads me to believe that someone has been photo shopping. Perhaps not but it just seems suspicious.

Nevertheless I'd sure love to run across that leetle feller up on the mountain here, in Canada or Alaska or even on the backside of Lake Chemquasibamticook.;) As long as I had a legal license. I've had a couple trophy moose walk in front of me without the license and that's torture!

Sure miss the old stomping grounds of Northern Maine. And this reminds me of a Moose story from an old fellow who used to guide Townsend Whelen. Seems he discovered that chocolate covered Malted Milk Balls are the exact size and near color of Moose droppings. Especially after being frozen! He dumped a Moose sized pile along the road back to his camp and when escorting the first hunters back for the season bent to pick a couple up, popped them in his mouth and exclaimed that this was very fresh sign. Looking at an imaginary hair, he reckoned that the Moose was a black phased one and that he was very close. Of course he knew that a blackish moose hung out on the margin of Big Lake Lake Machias that his cabin overlooked. Once inside and the curtain pulled open his clients were amazed at the moose just as John had predicted!

It looks real to me. The sun spots on the ground are there in both photos. Since it is 5:55 PM, the sun is low and came in under the moose's legs.
